Birthday Idea’s for your little one

and budget friendly too!

Budget Friendly Birthday ideas!

Is your little turning one in January? It’s a time of year when you might be feeling a bit of financial pressure, so here we talk about birthdays on a budget.

Being a baby photographer many of my clients tell me that they love celebrating a first birthday at home with close family and friends, so don’t feel like you need to go all out with a big party.

There are so many local options in Barnsley when it comes to party celebrations for little ones…

    – At Home
    – Local Soft play such as Playzone Barnsley, Play Valley or Playmania as a few examples
    – Local Pubs or function rooms are always easy to find
    – My go to party lady is always The Copycat Party Company, but they tend to do things for older children – but always keep her in mind!
    – Some of the baby classes will come and do a party for you – my friend had a Baby Rave for one of her son’s birthdays and it was fab!
    – Use Balloons to brighten up any space
    – Use printables if you fancy more DIY or order from the links below

Balloons are a brilliant way to make a venue or your home look extra special for a birthday. Whether you decide to order from one of our local balloon suppliers in Barnsley, or make your own there is so much balloons can do to make the space look more special.

My go-to balloon person is always Kelley at Float In Style Balloons, but if you fancy a bit more DIY feel you can pick up balloon garland kits from Amazon, Ginger Ray  or Party Delights  are my usual go-to decoration places! I’ve started a Pinterest Board full of birthday balloon ideas too if you need some inspiration!

Make sure you take plenty of photographs to make the occasion!

Make sure that the main party event is in a well lit room for you all to get some of the best images you can get! If you do fancy some professional photographs of the day, then why not get in touch! Especially in these times, first birthday celebrations are definately a time for families to get together and really capture great memories.

I see so many families coming to me for Cake Smash photographs especially as first birthday babies can be so hard to buy for, but more-so in January & February. Just after Christmas, no one wants to be thinking about adding more toys to huge haul from Santa. But it’s a special birthday so it needs a special gift – and this is why our portraits can be the perfect gift to your family for a first birthday – something that they’ll keep and remember for a lifetime.

At Blue Lights Photography we offer so many different type of sessions that there is something for everyone!

Our Cake Smashes are super popular, which include some clean photographs first, smash time with the cake and splash time to clean up afterwards! Not only that but our Cake Smash sessions also include the cake from fabulous local business Pompina Cakery

Families always tell me how much they love their Cake Smash photographs, how its so fun to see their little characters developing, but the great thing is, I get all the mess!
I know January can be a budget-conscious time for many families, but you don’t need to break the bank for professional portraits at this time of year – our Cake Smash Sessions  are currently on offer for just £40 instead of £60! And then the items that you wish to purchase after such as prints and products are not due until you order.

If Cake Smashes aren’t your thing, then one of our Portrait Mini Sessions would be right up your street to capture the age, without the mess. And you can even have some family photographs too!
